Bachorlette pt 2

Our Bachorlette project has gone though many different phases over the past couple of weeks. We had a problem deciding on how we wanted things to look, or what to make, or if we could even send all our individual pieces to be put together. Also our actor has gone completely AWOL, and isn’t responding to anything we say, however, that has made it a little easier for me to work out a path for us!

Helped by a chat with Kevin, and keeping in mind the original brief we decided on, I floated across a refined idea:

Instead of sending all of our pieces to one person to build, why not scan them through, and build them digitially? I scanned through a couple of the pieces that I had made, and was immediately in love with the results.

Everyone else also immediately fell in love with these results. Great!! This helped us for awhile. Others also started scanning in their pieces, and they are all beautiful in their own way. What I like inparticular, is that they all take on a somewhat underwater/otherworldly aspect. They stop even looking like zipties after a certain point.

I feel like our team is doing great, but we definitely lack a leader. I didn’t want to step forward as a leader, as being the oldest in the group – by 10-11 years! – and gone through an art degree before, I really wanted the people younger than me to have breathing room, and explore their creativity. In retrospect, I perhaps shouldn’t have done this, and just pushed forward being a leader. Next time I will try not to hesitate, or let the fact I am older get in the way. Univeristy is still a new experience to all of us, and we are in unprecidented times with COVID, so no matter what our backgrounds are, we are now in the same time and space.

Nether-the-less I am really proud of how our group is doing – we are all clearly a bunch of introverts, but everyone is doing their best, and embracing trying new things and techniques.
