After the holiday season, we moved onto our group sessions at University. We got a choice of what project we could go into – there was quite a few different proposals, but the two I was particularly drawn too were the “Song Lyrics” project, and the “Ghosts” project.

In the end I settled on the song lyrics project, as there was a Bjork song available and I couldn’t say no to that!

Bjork always has such a huge array in influences, as well as always doing what feels right to her. Unafraid to push boundaries and try new things, which is something I always want to do too.

The other people in my group are (mostly) great. We have a theatre designer, a production arts student, another costume interp student, and an actor… who I think has actually ghosted us. Our group have tried very hard to include him, but he just doesn’t seem to have any interest, and my recommendations for him have been shot down. That’s fine – I never want to push someone into doing something they don’t want to do, but he wasn’t able to, or didn’t want to offer forward anything that he could or was willing to do.

That aside though, our group has percerveered past him, and we are working on something rather fantastic.

I came up with the basic concept – everyone had voiced how they had wanted to try something outside of their comfort zone, something new. I was also aware that we are in 4 different cities, and with the current lockdown issued, it was very unlikely that we would get a chance to meet face to face.
My solution to that then, was to create a “theoretical” costume, using supplies that are cheap and easy to get, if you don’t already have them.

Everyone was on board with the idea, yay! Our other costume student said that she really wanted to create a album/vinyl cover, which works perfect for the costume idea.

In other updates – I have been slowly working away on creating a pair of trousers and a tailored jacket. I have been documenting the process so far, and will upload the complete thing with all my annotations once it’s ready!
